DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGICAL METHODS FOR ENSURING THE RESOURCE CHARACTERISTICS OF FLAPS OF TRANSPORT CATEGORY AIRCRAFT

Abstract

The paper analyses measures to ensure the resource characteristics of transport category aircraft flaps. Measures to ensure trouble-free operation of flaps are considered. The paper considers ensuring the service life of flaps in the design and manufacture of flaps, as well as in the process of their operation. The methods and measures to ensure the service life through the use of modern optimisation methods based on finite element modelling are considered. An important stage of design is the selection of materials for flap structure elements. The paper considers measures for the selection of materials, methods of increasing the service life due to surface plastic deformation, and means of protection against the reduction of strength during operation from atmospheric influences, corrosion, and abrasion. The issues of designing according to the concept of permissible damage and the use of methods and means of non-destructive testing of aircraft parts and components to ensure reliable service life are considered. Experimental tests to determine fatigue life and survivability characteristics are considered. The measures of successful operation of flaps and their hinge mechanisms are considered due to the widespread use of non-destructive testing methods for diagnostics, application of inspections and monitoring of their condition using automated systems.
