FLOATING RING AS A SOURCE OF BENDING OSCILLATION IN ROTOR

Abstract


The most usual type of seal round impeller’s collars for LPE TP is a floating ring. The article describes that on certain conditions the floating ring may be a source of bending oscillation occurrence in rotor and stipulates the importance of the rotor dynamics examination within the system “seal-rotor-bearing”. At the same time authors propose a mechanism of the bending oscillation occurrence, show the results of the floating rings testing with various designs and their influence on the ball bearings status, as well as show the results of the rotor development supported by two ball bearings with centered turbine.
