ROBUST LOCATION PARAMETER ESTIMATION OF DISTRIBUTIONS IN AUTOMATIC IMAGE PROCESSING TASKS

Сергей Клавдиевич Абрамов

Abstract

The task of location parameter estimation of samples distribution processed in automatic image processing tasks is considered. It is shown that the distribution law of such samples is clearly non-symmetric due to one-side heavy tail presence. Applying of known robust location parameter estimators in such conditions does not provide desirable accuracy. Therefore some new approaches based on using myriad and quantile estimators are proposed. It is shown, that the proposed solutions provide high accuracy and robustness. Recommendations about applying the proposed techniques are given.
