The possibility to
receive fresh water by condensing the steam from a humid air during its cooling
in the surface heat exchanger at the inlet of discharge turbocompressor
of marine diesel engine has been analyzed. The waste heat recovery cooling machine utilizing the heat of exhaust gases
and scavenge to cool the air was applied. The quantity of condensate
received and temperature drop in the air at the inlet of turbocompressor
at the temperature and humidity of ambient air changeable on the ship rout and
reduction in fuel consumption of diesel engine were calculated.
