MOMENT OF IMPULSE OF THE CHARGED GYROSCOPE

E.A. Igumentsev,  E.A. Prokopenko

This article is about a free rotation and set procession of gyroscope, widely used in aircrafts, under the action of gravity. The gravity, trying to tip gyroscope over, in fact does not cause, but only supports a resulting procession. For a symmetric gyroscope, when an external moment does not operate, frequency of rotation along the axis of symmetry is permanent. In this case vector of moment of impulse and axis of symmetry do not coincide. It is proven, that gyroscope in the shape of not ideal ball with a small excentrisitent has all the dynamical properties of the symmetrical gyroscope and ‘‘almost” all the properties of the ideal ball.

Key words: gyroscope, nutation, ideal and non-perfect sphere, moment of impulse, vector, projection, frequency.
