THE INVESTIGATION OF TiB2-SiC COMPOSITE MATERIALS HIGH-TEMPERATURE OXIDATION FOR
PROTECTIVE HVOF-COATINGS SPRAYING

High
temperature oxidation of TiB2-20mass.%SiC composite material
has been investigated and influence of plating with nickel on material
oxidation resistance has been established. At temperature up to 1000 oC TiB2-20mass.%SiC composite material
oxidation has two stages and results in formation В2О3, SiO2 TiO2 oxides which form
protective film and prevent further oxidation. It has been shown that TiB2-SiC composite material
plating with nickel results in the increasing temperature
of material intensive oxidation up 122 оС. The plating with
nickel results in fusion of ceramic powder at high temperature up to 1000 oC.
